AMAR USES HEALTH POSTS TO TARGET THOSE LIVING IN SMALLER POPULATIONS WHERE PRIMARY HEALTHCARE CENTRES ARE UNECONOMICAL. THEY PROVIDE COMMUNITIES WITH ACCESS TO MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS AND HEALTHCARE ON A WEEKLY BASIS.
AMAR health posts are affiliated to a local Primary Healthcare Centre. They have a single doctor and three nurses and offer health consultations, check-ups, vaccinations and referrals to fixed health centres or hospitals if further treatment is required. The health posts are also supported by a network of Women Health Volunteers who work extensively within the local community conducting home visits, delivering health information and support services to increase the uptake of available primary healthcare facilities and raise the health of the local population.
